Sometimes I wish that I had a good memory. My sister Kate can remember just about everything from her childhood. She remembers peoples names, things that they said, and places we went. Sometimes I pretend like I know what she is talking about, but inside I'm dying to remember!
Last week was my Grandpa Jensen's 89th birthday. My cousin is always kind enough to let us come to her home and celebrate it with him. My Grandpa is a very special person to me. I love to listen to stories that he tells. He tells us about things that he did when he was younger and sometimes I sit there and wish I had a tape recorder because I know I'm going to forget it all! He is an amazing person and I love him so much.
We also had the chance to go to Logan to visit my Grandma last week. She is losing a little bit of her memory and sometimes she starts talking about things that we don't remember, or people that are not alive anymore. Usually she is ok though and she remembers all of us, and where we live and what we are doing with our lives. This particular day was special to me because we were able to talk for a long time. Kate and I asked her questions about how she met my grandpa, and about how they fell in love. I'm sure Kate remembers all the details she told us, but I only remember her saying that she "wasn't no good till she met Del (my grandpa)" We asked her what she misses the most about him and she said "Pepsi and Pogie Bait" We laughed a little and asked what the heck that was?! She told us about how they used to sit on their porch when the kids had all gone to bed and drink Pepsi and eat candy, which my grandpa had nicknamed Pogie Bait for some reason. (we asked why and she couldn't remember!)
This really got me thinking about my own marriage. I feel the same way about Kellen. I really wasn't any good until I met him. He teaches me everyday how to love, and how to be a better person, just by him being himself. I look up to him in so many ways and I am so excited to make more memories and traditions with him!
Another memory I wanted to write down (before I forget!) happened about a month ago. Kellen was sitting in his parents room doing homework and His mom was doing genealogy on the computer. Now if any of you know Bev, you know that she has done an incredible amount of work for her ancestors. I envy this in her. She is one of the most organized, motivated people I know. She has scrapbooks and photo albums full of amazing pictures and stories of her family. I was looking through one of those albums that night and I couldn't stop thinking about how blessed my children will be to come from such wonderful ancestors. There were war letters, stories, and really old pictures of real live cowboys!
I hope I never forget how I felt looking through that book. I hope I can remember all of my grandparent's stories! I hope Liv will appreciate where she comes from someday!

I will have to ask her again what that is. Sometimes if she doesnt think about things she can remember it better. I love my grandparents too and I am alot like Kate. I remember most details but it is sad to see them get old and go downhill:(
Oh Young Jean. She's so darn cute, I can't stand it!
Those were some sweet stories...got me thinking if I remember stories from grandparents. I have a bad memory like you. Ugh!
